Campaigning and supporting Scottish credit unions

ABCUL is the leading trade association for credit unions in Scotland offering:

  • Representation to governments, regulators, the media and other stakeholders
  • Access to information and guidance
  • Member rates for conferences, training and consultancy services
  • A range of products and affinity schemes
  • Online information and networking opportunities

ABCUL  serves the vast majority of Scotland’s credit union members by representing the interests of Scotland’s credit unions to the Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, local authorities, devolved bodies and other Scottish agencies and organisations.

ABCUL’s Scottish member credit unions also receive the full benefit of our policy work with the UK Government, regulators and other British agencies; as well as the benefit of sharing resources and best practice with the rest of the British credit union movement.

ABCUL is a co-operative, owned, funded and democratically governed by its member credit unions.

Our member credit unions in Scotland directly elect directors to serve on the ABCUL Board, and members also elect officers to serve on the ABCUL Scottish Forum. The Forum works for the development of the credit union movement through training, education and opportunities for networking.

All ABCUL member credit unions in Scotland are invited to participate in Forum activities and events.
